DUI checkpoint planned Friday for Santa Rosa

The Santa Rosa Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location Friday.|

Santa Rosa police will stop every car that passes by an undisclosed location Friday night and check each driver for signs of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The checkpoint is scheduled to run from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., according to a statement from Santa Rosa police.

The SRPD is looking to crack down on DUIs, which have resulted in 514 accidents, three deaths and 190 injuries over the past three years, police said.

Visible DUI checkpoints and other publicized DUI patrol have been shown to reduce crashes involving impaired drive by nearly 20 percent, Santa Rosa police said.
