The Melt Method hits Rohnert Park
The MELT Method is a self-treatment technique created by Sue Hitzmann. Featured on the Dr. Oz show, this practice is used to help eliminate chronic pain, improve flexibility and decrease stress caused by many of the repetitive postures and movements we do each day.
Local resident Denise Drake will be offering two introductory classes focusing on the MELT Method for hands and feet this month at the Rohnert Park Community Center. The classes will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 3 and Saturday, August 17. Each class will be 90 minutes and will cost $25 general or $20 for seniors.
Drake started using the MELT Method herself earlier this year and after her personal experience with the benefits decided to become a certified instructor. She has been teaching it with her personal training clients for the past few months, but this will be her first class-style instruction. Drake offers a variety of fitness and wellness training through her business, Fitness by Denise.
The introduction class will include an overview of the method itself before working on the actual methods and techniques. The focus will be the hands and feet and will use things such as small balls to work the connective tissue.
Over the next few months Drake plans on becoming certified with the foam rolling techniques along with working on the back and neck. She expects to teach two classes a week starting in September at the Community Center.
“It is a great way to help with pain and help deal with aches that many people take for granted,” she said.
Drake is a certified Fitness Trainer, New York Strength Master Trainer, and Cancer Exercise Specialist in addition to her MELT Instructor certification.
