It is a good night to meet your neighbors this week

NNO2013National Night Out in Rohnert Park, hosted by the City of Rohnert Park and Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6 at the City Center Plaza. The goal of the program is getting to know your neighbors, which includes city employees and local services.

National Night Out is a way for communities to stand up to crime by creating community awareness. It is held the first Tuesday in August each year. The program was started in 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.

As part of the event there will be lots of fun activities for families that include:

  • Rohnert Park Public Safety K-9 “Enzo” and his handler Matt Snodgrass,
  • Rohnert Park Public Safety Traffic Motorcycle Unit
  • Bicycle rodeo sponsored by Rohnert Park Public Safety (free bike helmet to the first 50 kids)
  • Rohnert Park Public Safety Fire Engines
  • Rohnert Park Public Safety Explorers Jump House
  • Rohnert Park Animal Shelter
  • Rohnert Park Public Works
  • Rohnert Park Community Services
  • “Local City Celebrities” dunk tank– Mayor, City Council, City Manager, Assistant City Manager, Police & Fire Chief
  • Fingerprinting ID kits for kids,
  • Sonoma County Search and Rescue Bloodhounds “Daisy” and “Player”
  • CPR by AMR (ambulance provider)
  • Law Enforcement Chaplaincy Service in Sonoma County
  • Sonoma County YMCA
  • Operation Life Saver (Railroad crossing safety)
  • Fire Prevention – Smoke House demonstration
  • McGruff the Crime Dog
  • Target –Major Sponsor
  • Food – Sol Azteca, Mama Nita’s Filipino Hut, Sally Tomatoes, Hot Dogs & Ice cream
