Are you Ready for some Back to Track Basics with the Resurrection Girls? Come down to Cal Skate from 7:30-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, to learn some skating basics. For a price of $10 you get training, skates and roller derby gear. In the process you can get some great exercise and prepare for tryouts. Promoting Women as Effective Community Leaders will be this month’s topic at the Women in Business luncheon, held 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Mary’s Pizza Shack, 101 Golf Course Drive. The Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event for members and nonmembers, with speaker Laura Moss of the American Cancer Society. In support of Black History Month at Sonoma State University, the Associated Students presents a free showing of “Marley,” the Bob Marley documentary film at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13. “Marley” is the definitive life story of the musician, from his early days to his rise to international stardom. The film will be shown in Ives 101 on the SSU campus, 1801 E. Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park.
Island Passions: Two One-Act Operas continues at SSU this week. “The Deserted Island” and “Riders to the Sea” will be performed at the Evert B. Person Theatre, 1801 E. Cotati Ave., with a 1 p.m. student matinee on Wednesday, Feb. 13; a staff and faculty performance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14; a regular performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15; and 2 p.m. shows on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 16 and 17. Do you like to build with Legos? Join the club at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, when kids 6-12 will build Lego structures at the Rohnert Park – Cotati Library, 6250 Conde Way, Rohnert Park. For this free event, the library will provide the Legos and monthly theme.
“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” finishes its run this weekend at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center, 5409 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park. This musical comedy has won several Tony Awards and should be a laugh-filled show. Tickets are $26, $22 seniors, $20 students. Show times are 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 16, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17. For more information, contact the Box Office at 588-3400.
