The Rotary Club of Rohnert Park-Cotati is gearing up for its annual holiday gift and toy drive so Santa and his elves can deliver hundreds of toys and gifts to families in Rohnert Park, Cotati and Penngrove on Saturday, Dec. 22. Last year, more than 400 children received gifts due to the generosity of the community.

To the delight of local children, Santa and his elves deliver the gifts to each family, riding in Rancho Adobe Fire District fire engines, a Cotati police vehicle and other helpers’ vehicles right to their homes.

In addition, food donated by Neighbors Organized Against Hunger, Rohnert Park’s local food bank, is distributed to needy families. Those residing in transitional housing also receive clothing and essential items for their homes, all donated by the membership of the Rotary Club of Rohnert Park-Cotati.

Community support, in the form of donated gifts and cash, enables this program to thrive. The club works together with the Rancho Cotati Rotary Club, Rotary Interact and Rotoract Members, the Rancho Adobe Fire District, the staff at the City of Cotati, the Rohnert Park Chapter of Realtors and the community at large to collect and distribute the presents.

Santa’s elves will wrap gifts Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Rohnert Park Senior Center. Then Santa will make his rounds the following Saturday. Donations will still be accepted until Dec. 25. Gifts or gift cards for children 9-16 are especially needed, as this age group is often underserved.

Bring donations to the Cotati Police Department or to any of the Rancho Adobe Fire Departments until Dec. 25. To request assistance for your family or someone you know who resides in Rohnert Park, Cotati or Penngrove, call the Rotary Club of Rohnert Park-Cotati at 765-4898.
