SSU cross-country preview race
The top cross-country runners in the California Collegiate Athletic Association will compete at Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa on Oct. 1.
The participants will be running on a course they’ll see again on Oct. 22 when, for the first time, Sonoma State University hosts the conference championships.
Eight schools will be competing on Oct. 1 with San Francisco State favored to win the men’s and women’s team titles.
Sonoma State has only a women’s cross-country team this year.
SSU’s top runners are Carly McCready, Sablle Scheppmann and Sammy Thomas.
The event is open to the public and the best place to watch the race is north of the Oak Knolls area. The closest parking can be accessed by using the main Spring Lake entrance off Channel Drive.

The meet starts at 9am with the women’s 6K, and the men race their 8K at 10am.
